The Sound of Tiredness from NS Rider Number 1

For unknown reasons, this is the first rider I noticed: those ones who become this type only when they fall asleep. This rider, I called ”the snorer”. The snorer is the type of passenger or rider that made me realize I am riding in Nederland Spoor trains with a lot of varied fellow riders. After this realization, I became very conscious of the happenings around me every time I am taking my daily long rides.

In normal situations, it is very difficult to notice the snorer. Why? The train has a noisy engine sound, there are a lot of fellow riders speaking on their mobile phones, there are chatters who do not care about the volume of their voices, or there are other riders watching films using their notebooks or laptops without putting a head phone. They just love sharing the soundof what they are watching without sharing the visions you know. And believe me, sometimes I even hear the music from the nearby riders’ mp3 player despite their use of earphones. Don’t they get deaf easily? Or are they deaf already?

Snorers actually come accidentally. Surely none of us all NS riders would like to be classified as a snorer, they just escape out of the larynx (I believe), that snoring sound and the thing is, when you are a snorer, you, as the snorer, are not aware of it… you are in deep sleep, that is why! In fact how I discovered the snorer was accidental. As I said, it is very difficult to find one for various reasons. So how did I find one? I would tell you later.

Snorers are not that bad. I am not aware if I was once a snorer too. No one can blame the snorers y’know. Travelling everyday for long distance, long sitting hours with a body tired from work and pressure and when you are sitting in the train without doing anything, you’d be falling asleep without difficulty. And when you are asleep, you cannot stop yourself doing some stuff against your will, i.e., snoring. At some point you have just to snore. And snoring it is… and you do ot know that you are doing it.

My first rider, the snorer, was sleeping when I discovered his existence. There were many passengers talking to each other and/or talking through their respective telephones. For a second or two, it happened that all of a sudden they all took a single breath and stopped uttering words. That was when we all heard the loud… ghhhhhhrrrrrkkkk …. Hggghhhrrrrrkkkrrkkk… and here goes my first rider, the snorer.I want to know the rider more...

NS Rijder 101 Blog-Book Introduction-Foreword

Taking the Nederlands Spoor (NS) trains everyday can cause a lot of reactions to riders. This blog is entitled in Dutch: "NS Rijder" simply means NS Rider in English. Moreover, I, as the author-blogger, is not very sure if NS really means "Nederlands Spoor" but for the purposes of this blog, this assumption would serve its purpose perfectly.

This blog will be in book-style. This would be written by pages, showing one (1) or two (2) pages at a time. So why write here? As you read along, you would understand why. Knowing your fellow riders, other train passengers, can be as annoying as hell and can be fun as heaven. Honestly, I have never been to these two places yet but that's the way I see it. As of today, I have travelled with NS Spoor trains on each working daybasis for approximately 350 to 400 kilometers everyday. And what does that mean? That means five (5) to six (6) hours of train ride on a normal trip basis. What's a normal trip? That means perfect connection, no delays and no disruptions.

What to expect to be read here? The title indicates that this is all about riding the trains. As the author, what I really want to show here is that there are 101 types of NS rain rider. Can you believe that? Just watch out then if I can make it to the 101st passenger. I think I do, I have my list already, you know!

Readers, ride with me in NS train, sit back, relax in a "stilte" wagon and enjoy your ride!I want to know the rider more...
